MASTER ELECTRICIAN
Full time, Exempt seasonal position
We are seeking an experienced theatre Master Electrician to join our exceptional lighting department. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival mounts 12 shows in rotating repertory with 822 performances each season. The Lighting Department is responsible for lighting and changing over up to five shows per day, six days a week, in three theatres.  Our team of one Manager, two Master Electricians and five Lighting Technicians is seeking the right individual with excellent technical, leadership, communication and organizational skills to join them in illumination solutioneering.
Major responsibilities include:
·         Hanging, rigging, focusing, and maintaining a stock of over 1200 conventional and 40 moving lights as well as a variety of video projectors, and a variety of lighting equipment.
·         Planning, organizing, and scheduling personnel and equipment to meet demanding artistic design goals. Supervising lighting technicians in daily projects, techs, changeovers and performances.
·         Communicating and collaborating within the Lighting Department and with other departments to facilitate a robust, open and efficient work environment.
·         Programming on the ETC EOS and ION family of consoles. Assisting Lighting Designers during technical rehearsals.
·         Serving as programmer, board-op and changeover crew on at least one show per season.
The successful candidate will have at least four years experience leading a lighting crew in the hang and focus of conventional and moving light rigs. Must have a good understanding of, and demonstrable skills with NFPA 70: NEC Article 520. Should be well versed in modern lighting and projection equipment and accessories.  Recent experience working in a repertory environment is preferred as is two years experience with video projection and media servers. Rigging, wood working, electronics and/or welding skills will also be helpful. The master Electrician must be able to work variable schedule including occasional ten+ hour shifts. Contract will start in December 27, 2010 and run through Oct 30, 2011. Starting pay range is $35,000 – $37,400 per season; final offer will be made based on experience.
