Job Opening: Property Master (Department Head)
Reports To: Production Manager and Head Carpenter
The 5th Avenue Theatre has an opening for the staff position of Property Master.
5th Avenue Department Heads are “Working Heads”. The Properties department works both to produce/build and run props for shows. The Property Master shares responsibilities with the Production Property Master.
The primary duties of the Property Master include production and running crew supervision; operation and maintenance of props, tools and equipment; and logistics, organization and administration. Further responsibilities include compliance with the policies and procedures of The 5th Avenue Theatre, including non-discrimination regulation and collective bargaining agreements. Work at The 5th Avenue Theatre includes interrelations with visiting designers, directors and road crews.
Qualifications: Superlative organizational and supervisory skills and the ability to work well with a diversity of people are essential. Basic functionality with Microsoft Office and ability to read CAD drawings, interpersonal diplomacy and communication skills are a must, along with problem solving within typical non-deferrable theatrical deadlines. Also required are a demonstrated ability to work as a team or independently, as needed, and a good sense of humor.
Pay rate: Above current IATSE contract Department Head base rate.
Deadline: Monday, January 2, 2012. Interviews will be held January 3-6, 2012.

Job Opening: Property Assistant
Reports To: Property Master
The 5th Avenue Theatre has an opening for the position of Property Assistant. The Property Assistant shall be called in as part of the running crew for all 5th Avenue Musical Theatre productions and shall substitute as the department head in the event of his/her absence for any type of theatre event.
The primary duties of the Property Assistant include assisting the Property Master in the supervision, operation and maintenance of prop items and equipment. Supervisory skills and the ability to work well with a diversity of people are essential. Further responsibilities include compliance with the policies and procedures of The 5th Avenue Theatre, including non-discrimination regulation, personnel rules and collective bargaining agreements.
